I will not condemn what anyone did to survive / but I will not defend a culture that makes us decide / to assimilate or die / or that defines survival as / running as fast as you can from the places you came from / forgetting the things that have made you / until all that is left is the burning in your lungs or / the pounding in your heart that only has space for / contempt for the ones who couldn’t quite make it.
Excited about this tonight, even though going to shows at churches makes me feel really old in a really bad way.

we hung up our relationships / for everyone to see / then blind interpretations / couldn’t say what’s right for you or me / and we could find out what we want / and make no apologies / because we couldn’t coexist / any other way.

A general overview of 'things I think are neat':abandonment/the post-industrial midwest, anarchism (syndicalism, insurrectionalism, etc), race/ethnicity (esp. defining/constructing the boundaries of whiteness), gender, class (talking/thinking about class generally seems to be an underrated activity), health care (access to, the experience of obtaining, etc), art, science fiction, punk music, conservative talk radio and anthropology (which probably incorporates almost everything else about people).
