– anon (i mean, aren’t they all anon?) commenting on communique from a brat stunt future anarchistnews.org comments are some of my favorite things about the internet. they make me laugh a lot. i think an appropriate adjective to describe it might be manically.

So a couple weeks ago I sent in a book purchase...
And they actually bought it and then sent me, like, a NON-FORM email from the actual Social Science librarian letting me know that it was on the way and they would be holding it for me at the desk. this is totally bizarre because at my old school I was always requesting stuff on the regular and no one ever bought anything I asked for. So basically I am disoriented and perplexed by this.

Also I had a very gorey morning
It involved cataloging hundreds of melting/rotting human tissue samples that fell victim to some human error (thankfully not mine) invoving our liquid nitrogen freezers and then were left to their own devices for the weekend plus some it was pretty brutal.

I feel like my brain is just rattling around...
I can’t piece together any thoughts at all about the books I read this weekend. Also, Word is red- underlining like 25% of my writing and I am not sure if these words are academic jargon it hasn’t learned yet or if I have made them up

placebos: Age is not equivalent to expertise... →
I guess we’re supposed to be okay with how Academia works. If you’re a researcher, you get a job from a professor, who’s most likely paying you from a grant. The university sets the hourly rate. You might get health insurance if you’re permitted to work 40 hours a week. Your hours are somewhat flexible, but you better keep checking your email. If the university is subcontracted by an industry...

Police want to know what drew more than 100 teens... →
CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio — Police are trying to figure out what brought more than 100 teens to Severance Town Center where a riot broke out. More than 100 teens converged on the Wal-Mart at the shopping center Sunday evening, some taking bicycles off display and riding them in the aisles. Then the crowd moved to the nearby Regal Cinema and a melee broke out. Six girls, ages 15 and 16, were arrested...
